Trans-Mississippi Virtual Museum to launch this Saturday

Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield and the Springfield-Greene County Library District will officially launch the “Trans-Mississippi Theater Virtual Museum” with two free programs – 2 p.m. Saturday, July 30 in the Visitor Center multi-purpose room of Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield, and 2 p.m. Sunday, July 31, at the Library Center, 4653 S. Campbell Ave.  Please accept this email as an official invitation to the reception events. 

The programs at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield and at the Library Center will include a demonstration of the Virtual Museum site, Civil War period music by Holmes Brigade musicians, and remarks by Dr. William Piston entitled “The Cultural Memory of Wilson’s Creek and the Summer of 1861 Campaign in Missouri.” Pre-events at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Library Center will include an outdoor Civil War camp scene with re-enactors, black powder firing and music by the Holmes Brigade.
