How to raise an Annan turtle- Annan turtle breeding

The Annan turtle is a turtle species unique to Vietnam. It is listed as a first-level protected animal in Vietnam and is prohibited from domestic sales. Annan turtles are relatively easy to raise, and their food habits are complex and they have a wide range of foods. How to raise an Annan turtle? Annan TurtleRaising.

1. Annan turtle food

Annan turtles have high requirements for food. The bait should be refined, fine, soft, fresh and tender, nutritious and delicious. The hatchlings are often fed red worms, mysid shrimps, chironomid larvae, silkworms, etc. within one month after hatching. Chickens, duck eggs, fresh fish fillets, animal livers, etc. can also be fed. Do not feed them. All kinds of animal meat or offal that have been salted should not be fed with feed containing high fat content.

When feeding animal offal, large fish, shrimp, mussels, snails and other baits, they must be crushed in advance before feeding to improve the deliciousness. If possible, it is best to mince fish meal, egg yolk or fish, shrimp, snail, and clam meat and add a little flour to make artificial synergistic feed for feeding. Feeding must not only be done at a fixed point (setting up a food table) and on time, but also done to a certain amount. The general feeding amount is 5-10% of the total weight of the hatchlings in the entire pond, and should be increased or decreased flexibly according to the turtle's appetite, weather, and water quality.

Two. Annan turtle breeding situation,

Before Annan turtles are raised in the pond, soak them in one of the extreme potassium permanganate solutions for 1-2 seconds Hour. Annan turtles are also weak in adapting to poor water quality. Therefore, residual bait and dirt in the pond should be removed frequently, new water should be replaced every 3-5 days (the temperature of the new water should be close to the water temperature of the original pond), and the water volume should be changed frequently. It accounts for 20-30% of the total pool water volume, and the water transparency is maintained at 30-40 cm.

The most important thing in Annan turtle breeding and management is overwintering management. Since Annan turtles do not take long to grow after breaking out of their shells, and the average weight is only about 10 grams, and only 3-4 grams are available for early hatching, they are poorly adapted to overwintering. In order to allow the hatchlings to survive the winter safely, feeding control should be strengthened before the hatchlings stop eating in the autumn, and it is necessary to ensure that the hatchlings are fed nutritious and high-fat foods., causing the body fat of the hatchlings to accumulate. When the outdoor temperature drops to around 10°C, all hatchlings should be moved to indoor hatchling ponds for overwintering. The bottom of the hatchling turtle pond should be paved with 20 cm thick silt sand and filled with 5-10 cm of water, so that the hatchlings entering the pond can burrow into the sand on their own to overwinter. The stocking density for overwintering hatchlings is 100-200 turtles per square meter.

3. Annan turtle overwintering matters

It is more appropriate for hatchlings to keep the water temperature at 2-6℃ during their overwintering period. If you encounter a cold wave during the winter, you can use an indoor furnace to properly heat up the water to avoid a significant drop in the water temperature in the pool. However, do not raise the indoor temperature too high, otherwise, the hatchlings will wake up from hibernation, causing the body to consume too much nutrients and die. During the winter, change the pool water every half a month to a month to keep the water quality fresh.
